The Street

The Street is a humorous TV show, originally broadcast on Efir 2 before the channel was closed, then on Channel 1 of BNT and its last edition on Nova TV . It was broadcast for the first time in 1992. It featured Krastyu Lafazanov , Maya Novoselska , Hristo Garbov , Kamen Donev , Toncho Tokmakchiev , as well as other comedian actors . Author and director is Teddy Moskov . Through original sketches, very often based on acting improvisation, the show presents the life of the "little man" in Bulgaria after the fall of the communist regime. "The Street" quickly gained fans and became one of the most loved comedy shows on Bulgarian television.

Season 1 - The Street
1992-01-01
The main theme is the change that occurred in Bulgaria after the change of political regime in 1989. Emphasis is placed on the state of art and culture, mainly their desecration. Topics such as modern morality, the penetration of advertising into society, politics and others are touched upon. The edition also includes three musical etudes.

Season 2 - The Street
1993-01-01
The main themes are the funding of art and the sadness of the past and the mistakes made. In the first part of the show, people who get rich quickly from the transition and who want to support art to ease their guilty conscience are ironized. The second part is entitled "If only time could be turned back". It consists of a series of sketches shown back to front in time. Other topics covered in the edition are the security of the Kozloduy NPP, politics, fraud (fixed drawing of a totalizer draw) and others. The edition ends with a musical etude.

Season 3 - The Street

Тhe main theme is the little people, the losers, and their unrealizable dreams for a better life. Little people seek solace in the world of romance literature . The show ends with a musical sketch and the idea that sometimes little people can make their dreams come true.

Season 4 - The Street

The main theme of the show is hectic everyday life and the growing differences between social classes. It emphasizes the difference between people who get rich through their arrogance and those who enjoy life but remain losers. There are sketches with the faithful Trabant , banter with the pseudo-intellectuals, the contes, a sketch about the mansions and others. The edition has two musical etudes and ends with the fairy tale of Pepelyashko, starring Vasil Naydenov and Vasko Ketsa.

Season 5 - The Street

The main theme is the life of the small clerk, personified in Strahil Bozhikravov, his relationship with his superior and his colleagues (including the secretary) and his dreams. The issue begins with a skit dedicated to the style of driving in Bulgaria and continues with a musical sketch. The following are the parts "One day in the life of Strahil Bozhikravov" and "One night in the life of Strahil Bozhikravov." The finale is the sketch about people flattened by life.

Season 6 - The Street

A central theme is the reaction of the small, insignificant person to the stress of hectic everyday life. The escape from this stress is in the romantic notion of the past, expressed through the juxtaposition of color and black-and-white films. Bureaucracy, machines, family are presented as sources of tension.

Season 7 - The Street
1999-01-01
The theme of the issue is defined as "disappearing things - what is disappearing from our lives...", but the sketches are varied and often go far beyond this theme. The publication begins with a caricature of the various regions in Bulgaria and is followed by a lecture on "What does a Bulgarian woman think with: with her brain or with her spinal cord", actually dedicated to the buttocks (in a figurative sense). There is also a sketch about the desire of Bulgarians to emigrate, a chorus of hunters, the story of the ugly duckling, a sketch about the disappearance of family harmony, the Teacher's monologue with Kamen Donev and others.

The theme of the show is the small vices and flaws represented by people who learn to avoid them. The first skit is about a clumsy lady learning to drive. The following are sketches about a woman learning not to cheat on her husband, a sketch about a man learning not to smell bad, a sketch about a man learning not to drink brandy, a sketch about a novice bandit learning to rob groceries and others. Aggressive advertisements are also an affected topic. The show ends with a musical etude.

Season 9 - The Street
2004-01-01
The main theme is presented as "confusion". The difficulties and stress to which little people are subjected are presented. The host of the show is not a professional actress, which contributes to the main theme. The second lead is a policeman with a hot dog on his epaulet , a reference to Josef Lada 's illustrations for the book The Adventures of Good Soldier Schweik in the World War . There are many improvisations of unrelated text in the show.
