A drama made for television by BBC Scotland. It follows the life of a US Marine (played by Keitel) based at the Holy Loch naval base and the local girl he married. Their relationship is at straining point - she wants to leave Scotland and settle in America while he wants to remain in Scotland.

The title of the film is the classic jazz piece, "Misterioso," by Thelonious Monk, which features prominently in it.
